Despite the recent press about Alberta moving from a tort-based (fault) system for car insurance to a no fault system (where most law suits for car accidents will not be allowed), the change has not been enacted by the Alberta Government yet. Any changes to the insurance system in Alberta will not take effect until 2027 at the earliest so if you are injured in a car accident, you can still make a claim for damages against the person who hit you.
