About Sexual Violence Awareness Month:

May is Sexual Violence Awareness Month. Sexual Violence Awareness Month was created to raise public awareness about sexual violence, sexual assault, and sexual abuse. It is also important to educate individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Each year, during the month of May, you can find activities and events in your area that promote the awareness and prevention of sexual violence.

About the SAFFRON Sexual Assault Centre in Sherwood Park, Alberta:

SAFFRON Sexual Assault Centre’s mandate is to provide counselling services to anyone who has suffered from sexual assault, abuse and sexual violence, as well as those who have been affected by sexual assault (e.g. support persons, family members, etc., of someone who has experienced sexual assault) and also to provide proactive education regarding sexual assault, abuse and sexual violence to all individuals and to change attitudes, beliefs and myths surrounding sexual assault.

SAFFRON Sexual Assault Centre’s main mission is to support the healing and empowerment of those who have been affected by sexual assault, abuse and sexual violence; and to promote change in attitudes, beliefs and social norms.
